Qualifications: Knowledge of domestic violence and sexual assault issues. Ability to manage hotline and shelter and to provide support to clients. Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Women’s Studies, or related field preferred.
Responsible to: Residential Services Program Director
Job purpose: To manage emergency shelter in order to provide basic needs, essential items, and support services, in a safe environment for victims of domestic violence and their children.
Responsibilities: 1. Shelter women and their children who are victims of domestic violence. 2. Arrange for transportation if needed. 3. Answer the hotline, providing crisis intervention and counseling, information and referral. 4. Coordinate provision of essential items, i.e., food, clothing, personal items, and medicine. 5. Oversee safety issues of families, ie: fire, medical emergency, abusers on premises. 6. Initiate house meetings on a regular basis for clients to attend. 7. Plan and facilitate support groups and activities for child residents to promote a safe and supportive environment and assist in obtaining goals. 8. Comply with quarterly statistical and narrative reporting requirements and agency record keeping on all project activities.
