Emergency Shelter

We provide temporary, safe shelter for victims of domestic and sexual violence and their children. The shelter is a comfortable, attractive facility with accommodations for up to 20. It is located in a quiet residential setting in our service area. For safety, FRC’s location remains undisclosed.

In the shelter, women and children have a secure place to stay while they work on goals for a violence-free life. Clients receive supportive counseling, access to community services, assistance with goal setting, and participate in a support groups. Length of stay is based on individual need.

Crisis intervention counselors and trained volunteers staff the shelter 24-hours a day. Staff members work with residents to identify obstacles, set goals, and take steps to address their goals.

These services, as with all FRC’s services, are free of charge and confidential.

Court & Legal Advocacy

Advocates provide services to help in reducing trauma and facilitating a better understanding of the criminal justice system. This may include explanations about court procedures, aid in applying for compensation, courtroom tours, support, escort, transportation, and information relating to the criminal justice system and how it works.

Supportive Counseling

Individual supportive counseling sessions for victims of domestic and sexual violence can be scheduled with an advocate.

Services to Men

All of the Family Resource Center’s services are available to male victims. Men in need of shelter or services due to domestic or sexual violence are provided with shelter in another location with access to FRC’s community services, including supportive counseling and advocacy.

Community Awareness and Education

FRC offers a variety of educational programs about domestic and sexual violence to public and private schools, church and civic groups, and other interested organizations. Our staff will speak to any community organization or professional group seeking to learn more about domestic or sexual violence. Many kinds of programs are available based on the specific needs and interests of the group.

We offer primary prevention education sessions for pre-school, elementary, middle school, high school and college students. Specialized programs are designed for schools and other children’s groups. We also provide allied professional trainings on a variety of subjects.

To schedule training, call 276.625.0219.
